Earlobe Repair

Benefits of earlobe repair

Over time, ear piercings often become enlarged. This can negatively impact their appearance and may result in asymmetry, an inability to wear certain types of earrings and even lost earrings.

How are earlobes repaired?

Ear piercings can be repaired by Dr. Reid with a minor procedure that is easily tolerated under local anaesthetic ('freezing'). The original piercing is completely excised and the earlobe is carefully repaired.

Recovering from earlobe repair

The incision is closed with dissolving sutures. A small gauze dressing covers each earlobe for the first day, and after that no dressing is required. Showering and normal activities can be resumed on the day after the procedure.

Potential risks

This is relatively safe procedure, but potential complications include poor scarring, asymmetry and the need for further surgery.

How long until I can wear earrings again?

Earlobes are ready to be re-pierced 4-6 months later. This delay helps to reduce the risk of a recurrence.

Earlobe Reduction

Benefits of earlobe reduction

Enlarged, droopy earlobes are a hallmark of the aging process. An earlobe reduction can restore a youthful shape to this facial feature.

How it works

Earlobes can be reduced in size and re-shaped with a minor office procedure that is easily tolerated under local anaesthetic ('freezing'). There are many different techniques for this procedure and Dr. Reid will recommend the one that suites you best.
