Upper Body Lift in Richmond & Vancouver Area

Upper Body Lift in Vancouver

Benefits of an upper body lift

An upper body lift removes loose skin folds and excess fat from the lateral chest and back. This improves the contour of the thoracic region; an area that does not benefit from a lower body lift.

Who will benefit from an upper body lift?

Weight loss patients in the Vancouver area with loose skin folds affecting the lateral chest and mid-back areas will benefit most from this body contouring procedure. Patients often complain of poorly fitting bras, discomfort and poor contour caused by the loose tissue in the lateral chest area.

Where does the procedure take place?

Dr. Reid performs his upper body lifts at a private surgery centre in Vancouver.

Planning an upper body lift

During an upper body lift, excess skin and fat is removed from the lateral chest and mid-back areas. Detailed pre-operative markings and careful planning help to ensure that the final scar will be covered by the patient's bra strap.

Staging and combining upper body lifts with other procedures

Upper body lifts are seldom performed as an isolated procedure. More commonly, they are combined with a breast lift, arm lift or both. The combination of all three procedures is sometimes referred to as a 'complete upper body lift'.

What is the role of liposuction?

In the upper body, common areas to carry excess fat are the lateral chest, upper back and the back of the arms. If that's the case, liposuction is often performed at the time of the body contouring procedures.

Upper body lift recovery

The incisions are closed with dissolving sutures and paper tape. Drainage tubes may or may not be required. A bra-like compression garment is placed at the end of the procedure and should be worn for 2 - 3 weeks. Patients will be observed and cared for in the recovery room for a few hours prior to being discharged home. Follow-up appointments will take place in Richmond at 3 days, 1 week, 6 weeks and 3 months following the procedure.
